Dive into the heart of the 9th art!
Created in 1990, the Angoulême Comic Strip Museum is the natural extension of the international festival which has taken place there every year since 1974.

Just like the 9th art, the museum has evolved over time in terms of content and the way in which it presents works that retrace nearly 200 years of creation. Drawing on a heritage collection of more than 20.000 original plates and 250.000 prints from all countries and all styles, the permanent exhibition is in the process of changing. From April 2024 to June 2026, a deep reflection will be undertaken so that at the end of the work undertaken, visitors will enjoy an even richer immersive experience which will include new museographic, geographical, cultural, digital and creative approaches.

In the meantime, the Comic Strip Museum will display treasures directly from its vast collections. These works will reveal a wide range of creations from around the world and a number of iconic objects linked to this art. A fun journey in the form of a treasure hunt will appeal to the youngest visitors.

In addition, temporary exhibitions continue to follow one another to pay homage to styles, authors, themes such as François Bourgeon, Marvel, science fiction (in 2025) and currently “bite!” the comic strip puts its foot in the dish »
