Moebius ship, 16000 Angoulême
The City, in partnership with the association of Friends of the Comic Strip Museum and the association of the Angoulême Comic Strip Festival, have decided to pay tribute to Fawzi, an important member of the Angoulême community of authors.
Fawzi devoted his life to this medium of expression that he had made his own since his adolescence. At sixteen, he was already living off his talent as a press and comic strip cartoonist in Algiers, then went back and forth between Paris and Amsterdam before spending nearly 7 years in New York where he reactivated his lettering brushes to become "the artist of Greenwich Village" and twirled between decoration, illustration, screen printing and penciling for Marvel Comics on the Doctor Strange series. From 1989 to 2001, Fawzi returned to France, to Nice: he was then a press cartoonist for the satirical newspaper in Nice "le Babazouk" and produced medical illustrations on heart surgery in Monaco. After three years in Nantes, he finally arrived in Angoulême in 2004 and worked at the "Sanzot" then "Du Marquis" workshops. Fawzi is an excellent caricaturist and produces, among other things, comic strips for various publishers, while actively participating in local life.
This exceptional exhibition offers to retrace his life and his artistic journey through his works, texts, drawings, comic strips, sketchbooks, etc.
