Comic Strip Museum, 16000 Angoulême
To completely reinvent itself, a transformation of the museum space will take place without ever closing its doors until June 30, 2026.
In order to allow the continued discovery of its heritage collections, the City is programming the exhibition Treasures of the Collections in the permanent exhibition room, the museum and the heritage library will present their most beautiful pieces, in a scenography that evokes, not without humor, an impregnable vault filled with priceless treasures.
By means of a stylistic approach which brings together all the great schools of the history of comics (the neo-classicism of the masters of the golden age; the “clear line” of Hergé and his thuriferians; the chiaroscuro of the authors of detective stories; the “big nose” plates of the comedians inspired by Popeye and Mickey; the “sketch” style of the satirists…), the museum offers its visitors the unique opportunity to see in one; home to masterful works from around the world. All these wonders are explained by short and educational texts, in French and English. A few precious objects, inspired by the greatest works (Tintin's red and white rocket, a bronze sphere signed François Schuiten, etc.) punctuate the stroll.
A route dedicated to children, in the form of a treasure hunt, takes place in all the rooms of the exhibition. Not far from a comfortable reading area, a viewing room allows you to watch the greatest masters of world comics drawing.
Thematic visits and mediation workshops are regularly offered to the public.
