FRAC Poitou-Charentes, 16000 Angouleme
The Frac Poitou-Charentes is inaugurating its first curatorial residency around the collection by welcoming Élise Girardot, independent curator and art critic.
After several months of research, she imagined "The Autumn of Ideas", an exhibition which mixes poetry, history and archaeology around the notions of erosion, disappearance and reinvention of stories.
Inspired by the intriguing discovery of a female skull in the Quéroy cave near Angoulême, the exhibition offers a sensitive journey through the layers of memory. Recent works, emblematic pieces, and rarely exhibited treasures interact to question the time that transforms, erases, or brings to light traces of the past.
The works presented invite us to wander through a space where temporalities overlap: those of the bodies, the grounds and the stories that surround us.
By choosing a verse from Charles Baudelaire that gives its title to the exhibition, Élise Girardot sketches a mental landscape, an autumn that is not an end but a moment of transformation, where ideas germinate and are renewed.
With works by artists from the FRAC Poitou-Charentes collection:
Philippe Amiel, Malala Andrialavidrazana, Elize Charcosset, Isabelle Ferreira, Rodney Graham, Clara Ianni, Farah Khelil, Meiro Koizumi, Mathias Mareschal, Louise Sartor, Kristina Solomoukha and Paolo Codeluppi, Patrick Tosani.
