Why we love

This route is an invitation to discover the built and natural heritage of Puymoyen and the Eaux-Claires valley.

Your itinerary

1

Step 1

Head towards the roundabout where the shops and the town hall are located. Continue to the left on Rue du Bourg, see the Saint-Vincent church and take Chemin des Rochers on the right. Go down to the road which you follow to the right – see the marker marking the old Roman road at the bottom.
2

Step 2

At the intersection, turn right and immediately turn right under the rocks. Continue straight ahead into the valley which is home to a world-famous climbing site. See the Moulin du Verger, known for its artisanal paper made in the old-fashioned way and also famous thanks to the saga of Marie-Bernadette Dupuy. Cross the barrier and continue, ignoring all the path departures on the right and left until you reach the Vallée des Eaux-Claires road which you take to the right for 600 m.
3

Step 3

Go up the path on the right behind the house and join Rue du Château du Diable which you follow to the right - see the gate decorated with sculptures of devils on the bend and continue on the road. Turn right in front of the house to arrive at Place du Petit Rochefort - admire its elegant well dating from the 16th century. Continue to the intersection and turn right onto Rue des Grands Champs. Go opposite the Green Oak Trail and turn right onto the square before the barrier.
4

Step 4

Progress diagonally to the right along the main path to cross the wood. Come out on a path between a hedge and a meadow. Turn left at the end, Rue des Grandes Vignes.
5

Step 5

Turn right and immediately left onto Rue du Verger – before turning, see the cross in front of the house on the right.
Turn left into Impasse du Verger then left into Rue du Cormier. Continue along the path to Rue d'Angoulême.
Cross by the protected passage located on the right and continue opposite Rue des Brandeaux for 500 m.
6

Step 6

Before the bridge, take the white path to the right which runs along the ring road, then keep to the right further on.
7

Step 7

Leave the main road to turn left into a path. This leads to Rue des Gears, which you follow to the left. Turn right 50 m to join the path taken by the GR 36 to the starting point.
