La cathédrale Saint-Pierre of Angoulême is remarkable both for its Romanesque architecture dating from the 12th century and for its Treasure created by the visual artist Jean-Michel Othoniel.
Le Trésor de la Cathédrale is, to date, the only Treasure designed by a contemporary artist in France, a world-famous visual artist: Jean Michel Othoniel.
Colored blown glass, the artist's favorite material which makes up most of his creations with magical and baroque accents, is thus put to the service of a spectacular work. The stained glass windows in blue and gold tones diffuse a colored light which contributes to the dreamlike atmosphere of the place.
The Treasury reveals in three rooms part of the important collection of religious objects from the diocesan deposit. Each room corresponds to a theme: the Lapidary, the Commitment, the Marvelous.
