Located at 71 bis rue HergéThis iconic location becomes the 16/9th GrandAngoulême Tourist Office : a hybrid, vibrant and modular space, designed to make the heart of GrandAngouleme.
An idea born from a shared ambition
In 2023, GrandAngouleme and city of Angoulême joined forces to imagine a unifying place bringing together the tourist office of the Angoulême region and the Angoulême UNESCO Creative City Pavilion.
A key objective: to better showcase the region's assets and enhance its attractiveness.
The main objectives of the project:
- To showcase local heritage and know-how
- To offer a modern tourist welcome adapted to demand
- Supporting the local economy and cultural stakeholders in the region
- Create a shared living space, open to all
A major operation
This project was led by GrandAngoulême, with financial support from the French government and the European Union. Significant resources were thus mobilized for the purchase and complete renovation of a building of nearly 700 m². Furthermore, this building spans three levels, offering functional spaces adapted to new uses.
The inspiration came from extensive consultations initiated in the fall of 2024 under the leadership of the MONA with local stakeholders. This collective reflection was translated into action by the architectural firm Neyrat-Michelet, overseeing the project. More than eight months of work were required for the complete renovation of the building. Most of the companies involved are based in the Charente region. Thanks to their commitment, they were able to enhance the building while respecting its architectural character and identity. From construction to videos, all the partners contributed to the richness of the spaces: parquet flooring, wooden ceilings, exposed stone, illuminated display windows, computer equipment, films about the region, and information about the Cognac production cycle.
