Angoulême and its surrounding area now have a new space for welcoming and promoting their territory since the opening of 16/9 on December 13, 2025.

Located at 71 bis rue Hergé, this iconic place becomes the GrandAngoulême Tourist Office : a hybrid, vibrant and modular space, designed to make the heart of GrandAngoulême beat.

An idea born from a shared ambition

In 2023, GrandAngoulême and the city of Angoulême joined forces to imagine a unifying place bringing together the tourist office of the Angoulême region and the Angoulême UNESCO Creative City Pavilion.

A key objective: to better showcase the region's assets and enhance its attractiveness.

The main objectives of the project:

  • To showcase local heritage and know-how
  • To offer a modern tourist welcome adapted to demand
  • Supporting the local economy and cultural stakeholders in the region
  • Create a shared living space, open to all

A major operation

Under the management of GrandAngoulême, with financial support from the French government and the European Union, this project mobilized resources for the purchase and complete renovation of a building with a total surface area of nearly 700m² spread over three levels. The inspiration stemmed from extensive consultations initiated in the fall of 2024 under the leadership of MONA with local stakeholders and was translated into action by the architectural firm Neyrat-Michelet. More than eight months of work were required for the complete rehabilitation of the building. Most of the companies involved are based in the Charente region. They were able to enhance a building with local character through their commitment and respective expertise. From construction to videos: parquet flooring, wooden ceilings, exposed stone, illuminated display windows, as well as films about the region, computer equipment, and knowledge of the Cognac production cycle, all the partners contributed to the richness of the spaces.

Seeing Angoulême on a grand scale means inviting people to explore the territory in all its facets within a vibrant and welcoming environment.

A living and evolving place

The 16/9e building reinvents itself throughout the year, keeping pace with the rhythm of the region's life. By stepping inside the 16/9e building, everyone will find the new tourist office for the Angoulême region, as well as information on the region's highlights: the International Comics Festival, the Angoulême Francophone Film Festival, the Ramparts Trail, Angoulême Book Fair, Local Month…

Thanks to its furniture on wheels and numerous discreet fittings, it will be able to constantly adapt to different configurations and thus accommodate exhibitions, product launches, showrooms, workshops and many other projects to attract local or passing visitors.
