Exhibition “Lou ! Cher journal… "

This exhibition invites you behind the scenes of Lou's unique and irresistible universe, through the highlights and emblematic places of the series, a visit to Julien Neel's workshop and a dive into the twists and turns of creating a of the most endearing current comic series.

Exhibition “Comics rule their stories”

Whether faithful, parodic, enlightening, poetic or irreverent, comic book adaptations of tales carry high the creativity of their authors, between homage and discrepancy. The exhibition highlights five universes revealing tales in all their states.

Exhibition “Marvel, super-héros et Cie”

Marvel, super-héros et Cie, is the first exhibition dedicated to superheroes from the Marvel company created within the Musée de la BD.
This exhibition, of unprecedented scale, brings together the works of 90 different international artists and 170 originals, the oldest date back to the XNUMXs. The scenography recreates the worlds of the main characters of “la maison aux idées”.

Exhibition “Further. The new science fiction”

In an immersive scenography, visitors will be able to discover a multitude of original boards as many sources of inspiration and exciting universes in which to absorb themselves. The exhibition aims to consecrate the term "new science fiction", which outlines an approach to the almost 40 last years of creation, mainly French-speaking, in this field.

Exhibition Treasures of the Collections

The "Treasures of the Collections" are available to visitors. Since spring 2024, the Angoulême Comic Strip Museum has been presenting over 400m² of more than 100 original plates usually stored in the reserves. Many masterpieces are thus exhibited in a setting worthy of Fort Knox! The different styles of creation are highlighted for a dive into an anthology of production over almost 200 years. It should be remembered that the Cité de la BD is the repository of heritage funds composed of more than 20 original plates and several tens of thousands of printed matter. This exhibition replaces the previous tour.

Exhibition “Superman, the hero with a thousand and one lives”

The very first superhero, Superman is the representative of a literary genre and an industry, but also and above all a cultural icon perpetually reinvented, from his creation to the present day. Imagined by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster in 1938, Superman offers each decade a new mirror in which America can sometimes reflect or reject itself. Both a patriotic and rebellious emblem heralding progress, he has a timeless appearance and symbolic dimension, unlike the way we look at him, which evolves over time.

Exhibition “FLBLB Editions – A photo-novel lab”

What?! A photo-novel exhibition at the Cité de la BD?! But comics are drawings, it has nothing to do with it!? You might think so: you would be wrong.
The photonovel is a little-known means of expression. We have the image of old magazines filled with sentimental stories, with overly red lipsticks and self-confident guys in suits from another era. It is the best-known form of the photonovel, the one that reached the general public in the 1960s and which still has a dedicated magazine. But over time, adventurous pioneers and courageous mavericks have tried to do something else with this formidable means of expression, at the crossroads of cinema, theater, photography and comics.

Exhibition “Fawzi – the pencil backpacker”

The City, in partnership with the association of Friends of the Comic Strip Museum and the association of the Angoulême Comic Strip Festival, have decided to pay tribute to Fawzi, an important member of the Angoulême community of authors.
Fawzi devoted his life to this medium of expression that he had made his own since his adolescence.

Exhibition “K-Webtoon, the revival of Korean comics”

As part of the partnership between Bucheon and Angoulême, UNESCO Creative Cities, an exhibition that traces the evolution of the webtoon from its emergence in Korea at the end of the 20th century to the present day, presenting seven representative works that have spread to various media, including streaming platforms, series and video games.

Exhibition “Convergences, an exhibition of authors in residence”

Overlooking the Charente River, the Maison des auteurs is known to graphic designers around the world as the nodal point where the most diverse and surprising creations converge.
Beyond borders, languages, cultures, it is this place where comic strip artists, illustrators and animated film directors settle down to work in an atmosphere that is at once caring, studious and bubbling.

“Graphic Constellation” Exhibition

This exhibition highlights the diversity and audacity of Spanish comics through the work of nine authors: Bàrbara Alca, Marta Cartu, Genie Espinosa, AnaGalvañ, Nadia Hafid, Conxita Herrero, María Medem, Miriampersand and Roberta Vázquez.

Exhibition “Posy Simmonds, herself”

With world-renowned reference works by the likes of Tamara Drewe and Gemma Bovery (Denoël), Posy Simmonds is a major figure in British comics who has influenced generations of artists.
This exhibition offers an immersion in her unique art and her satirical pen with which she redraws the boundaries between the intimate and the political thanks to tragicomic female figures who overturn social codes.

Exhibition “Julie Birmant, the wild grasses”

With this exhibition, visitors will immerse themselves in the different stages of her creative process: from the material – sound and visual archives – that she uses for her research, to her way of working with the different artists she surrounds herself with, including Clément Oubrerie and Catherine Meurisse, to bring to life the stories she imagines.

The guided tour “La BD dans la ville – parcours des fresques murales”

All summer, the Pays d'Angoulême tourism office organizes guided tours to discover the route of the frescoes in the colors of the comic strips which are displayed on the walls of Angoulême.
The “Behind the Scenes of the 9th Art!” Tour

To go even further in the proposals for discovering comic strips, the Tourist Office and the Cité Internationale de la Bande Dessinée have co-constructed a new visit which brings together painted walls and museum reserves. Addicts will love it!
