The Circuit International des Remparts d'Angoulême, also known as the Grand Prix International des Remparts, Grand Prix des Remparts and Circuit des Remparts, is a speed car event contested on a 1-meter long car circuit whose layout plays with the ramparts of the city center of Angoulême.
From September 13 to 15, 2024.
The competition was imagined in 1938 and its project developed in 1938 and 1939 by theAutomobile Club of Deux-Sèvres, Charente and Vendée (ACDSCV) under the name of “Circuit des Remparts”.
Disputed for the first time in 1939, this city speed event, car and motorcycle (sometimes supplemented by a bicycle event), was interrupted by the 39-45 War. It resumed in 1947 and acquired a strong notoriety as soon as it was relaunched thanks to the presence on the starting line of the best drivers of the time (Fangio and Trintignant in particular).
Relaunched in 1978, the Circuit des Remparts is gradually becoming an international class automobile event, bringing together historic cars from all eras competing either on the circuit, or during elegance competitions and state restoration competitions... -end is complemented by numerous exhibitions in the city and by several tourist rallies of historic vehicles in the Charente countryside.
In 2024, alongside the centenary of the Bugatti Grand Prix, the Circuit des Remparts d'Angoulême will celebrate Venturi's 40th anniversary. This is why, true to its values, the Circuit des Remparts 2024 will be associated with the celebrations of the 40th anniversary of this 100% French brand whose town of origin is near Angoulême. In collaboration with Club Venturi, they will exhibit several emblematic models.
Consequently, this exhibition in the very heart of the city of Angoulême, accessible free of charge, will allow the general public to approach these legends throughout the weekend.
